Three Versions of the Perfect Steak Marinade

When you’ve bought yourself a premium and high-quality steak, the last thing you want to do is ruin it with a lacklustre marinade. Tariq Halal sells several delicious marinades, but if you like making your own we also have some great homemade marinade recipes you can try.

When your marinade is ready, leave your steaks in it for a while so they’re able to soak up all the delicious flavours. One of the best ways to do this is to coat your steak in the marinade and then place it in a fully sealed zip-lock bag that is free from any excess air. You can also place the meat and marinade in a large bowl that’s securely sealed with clingfilm.

Always make sure you refrigerate your meat after marinating it. Be sure to keep it away from other foods so that it doesn’t contaminate anything else in the fridge.

Ideally, you should marinate the steak overnight, but if you give the steaks at least two hours in the marinade they will be full of incredible flavour. However long you marinate your steaks, turn the bag at least once to ensure the flavour reaches both sides of the steaks.

When it’s ready to cook, pat it dry all over so that the steak is dry enough to brown nicely. Let the meat reach room temperature before you cook it.
