Mutton is known as the meat for life. It is a delicious, versatile meat that can be prepared in numerous ways and utilized in nearly any dish. Meat for life, indeed! Tariq Halal Meats has a number of suggestions on the best ways to prepare mutton:
- Grilling - preferably over a campfire or open fire. As you may have guessed, this is one of our most preferred ways to prepare any meat. We advise a marinade to flavor the meat and decrease the carcinogenic effects of the glorious, tasty charring of the fire.
- Curried - maybe the most popular way to cook mutton. Just pop these in a saucepan with your preferred spices, mix the meat with the spices and let it all simmer whilst the aroma drifts through the house.
- Sautéed- one of the simplest ways to cook mutton, all you need to do is heat up oil, and quickly fry it up. You can marinate first, season as you cook, or even after you've sautéed.
- Chops/steaks - mutton chops/steaks are a simple, luxurious way to serve up mutton. Simply rub on some dry seasonings and shallow fry the chop/steak on both sides. Serve the chop/steak on a bed of seasoned mash potatoes and some onion gravy and voilá - you are a master chef!
- Fried (deep frying!) - as delicious as it sounds, and ideal for kids! Just batter some diced mutton up with flour, and submerge into the oil. Like cod bites, serve with a lemon wedge for the kids and dig in! Try some sweet potato chips as an aside.
- Smoked - whilst this method is sure to bring out the best in the mutton flavors, it is also the most time-consuming and takes the most commitment. If you are up for the challenge, smoking your mutton is an endeavor well worth it. It’s similar to open fire grilling, but the mutton is cooked through the smoke. You get all the smoky, charred goodness.
- Poached - similar to slow cooking in that it is a slow, low-temperature cooking method. Simply rub the mutton down with spices of your choice, add those spices to liquid (usually stock or water), and slow cook the meat until the mutton is pink inside and dark outside.
No matter how you decide the best way to prepare or serve your mutton, Tariq Halal has the finest quality halal mutton for you to prepare your dishes with.
