Tariq Halal Meats has announced ambitious plans to open 100 new stores across the United Kingdom over the next five years, a move expected to create more than 1,000 jobs nationwide. The expansion marks a significant milestone for one of the UK’s most established halal meat brands and reflects growing demand for premium halal products across British communities.

The announcement follows the successful launch of Tariq Halal’s first Manchester branch in September 2025, a key step in the brand’s wider strategy to increase accessibility to halal food across major cities and high-demand suburban areas.

Founded in 1965 by Tariq Sheikh and his father, Tariq Halal Meats has evolved from a single butcher’s shop in London into one of the country’s most recognisable halal meat suppliers. Nearly six decades on, the business is known for combining traditional halal values with premium offerings, including Wagyu, Dry Aged Beef, and Gold Steak, alongside everyday household essentials.

Today, the company operates more than 30 retail stores and supplies halal meat to over 300 Sainsbury’s supermarkets across the UK, positioning it as one of the largest halal meat suppliers in the country.

Commenting on the expansion, Tariq Sheikh, Chairman and Founder of Tariq Halal Meats, said:

“The growth of the halal market in the UK has been extraordinary, and we’re proud to have been part of that journey for almost 60 years. This expansion is about more than just new stores, it’s about empowering communities, creating opportunities, and making premium halal products accessible to everyone.”

The planned expansion will feature a mix of franchise and company-owned locations, allowing the brand to grow sustainably while maintaining consistent quality and service standards. New sites are expected to open across major urban centres as well as suburban areas where demand for halal products continues to rise.

Kunal Patel, CEO of Tariq Halal Meats, highlighted the broader impact of the growth strategy, adding:

“We’re entering an exciting new era for the business. Our target to open 100 stores and create over 1,000 jobs reflects our confidence in the halal retail market and our commitment to investing in people and places across Britain.”

The first phase of store openings is scheduled to begin in 2026, with further locations to follow over the next five years. As Tariq Halal Meats continues to expand its footprint, the brand remains focused on quality, trust, and community. These are the values that have defined its journey for generations.
